i've just started reading one of his books and I am really amused by his humour and by the Japanese culture. A briliant writer and a really interesting book!

Hey,
What a great writer this guy is. Norwegian Wood has to be my favourite still.I like the books where he goes off on a weird fantasy trip less than his 'normal' stories though.....'hard boiled wonderland and the end of the world' I didn't like too much.
I've read most of his famous books and I find Norwegian woods the best of all his books. When you read Dance Dance Dance, you should read "Wild sheep chase" first because that's sequel to it. As you know before Wild Sheep Chase, we got "Hear the wind sing".
Have you all read his latest book "Kafka on the shore"? That's good too! I read it first in Japanse and I liked it. So I read it again in English. If you have not read it, just try it!
Perhaps you can try his short stories. I think they are even better sometimes. One collection is AFTER THE QUAKE: STORIES. I really like this book. It tells people's feeling of being alone and people's need to be connected etc.

hi everyone.. have anyone reed the short story "On seeing 100% perfect girl one beautiful April morning" i think it´s a very very nice and well write short story...what you think?
nice to meet you, nate. personally, i can't decide on a favorite murakami book. first i read hard-boiled wonderland, then his elephant vanishes stories, and now i've read everything but his nonfictionon the tokyo gas attacks. i did read a wild sheep chase first- that might be my favorite. i just wonder what dance dance dance would be like without it. wait, what's "hear the wind sing"? i've never even heard of it. I have read Kafka on the Shore- my sister and i both love reading and then talking about murakami books, and she bought it for me. it's a lot- i don't know- darker than his other books, i thought (except maybe hard-boiled wonderland), but i really got into it. Norwegian wood was nice because it was a change from his usual extistentialism, and it kind of left me thinking as sputnik sweetheart did as well. === Original Message ===>>>>
